What's the easiest way to create a new test profile, keeping all the
same settings, preferences, mail, etc. as the default profile?

Based on your statement I'm not sure what you want to accomplish. A new
profile with all the same content is NOT a new profile: It's a copy of
the existing profile.

What are you wanting to do?

I'm having an issue with my current profile. I did create a new profile
and the issue doesn't occur. But I didn't want to have to recreate all
my settings, mail, etc. too.

It is possible to copy only parts of the profile data but it is a tedious undertaking. For example, you could copy the folders Mail, ImapMail, News, and chrome over. And the .mab address books. And the sqlite files. Also, the persdict.dat, training.dat (if you use junk mail controls), and the key3.db files.

But, to activate the mail/news accounts and address books you would have to copy ONLY the portions related to them from the original prefs.js file to the new one.

Extensions and plugins should be installed fresh.
