Broken record request. How do you get the mail files out of the profile?

Please provide steps to complete this mission.

A decent file manager helps. I can recommend EF Commander.

The easy way to control SM "upgrades" is to use the ZIP distros. Such as
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.33/win32/en-US/
and select seamonkey-2.33.zip
That contains a directory tree named "seamonkey". Unzip that to anywhere you want, and change the directory name to something like "SM233". Then create a run object (shortcut). When you are sure you like the new more than the old, delete the old directory tree.

The SM app, the profile(s), and the mail files, can be separate from each other, and located anywhere Win can find them. However, once you tell SM where to look for profiles and mail, that is where it is going to look. So if you put them somewhere else, you will need to tell it again.

The profile is a sub-directory tree. Mail is a tree within the profile tree. My profile trees and mail trees are separate, and they wander from one desktop to another and to laptops.

To have SM look for a profile where you want to put it:

Copy the existing profile to where you want it, and name the sub-directory anything you want.

Run SM with a -Profilemanager switch - that will open profile manager before the SM app.

In profile manager, select "create profile".

Browse to the copy you made, and have profile manager "create" your copy. It will use whatever is in that sub-directory, and create whatever is missing - there should not be anything missing. That profile will now get added to the profile menu.

When you know the new profile works, delete the original profile sub-directory, and the old profile listing in profile manager.

To find an existing mail tree search for "inbox". That will be in a sub-directory named "MAIL". The MAIL sub-directory will be in another sub-directory that will have been named when the profile was created. That is the sub-directory tree you want to copy to wherever you want it. The rename it to something meaningful. I suggest a name that indicates whose mail it is and what mail account it is. Such as "SAM-ATT".

After you have the SM app copied to the HDD, and a profile created or copied to where you want it, run the app, open a mail window, got to Edit > Mail and news account settings. For each mail account go to Server Settings > Local directory and browse to the mail sub-directory. for that account.

After you have the new app, profile and mail working, delete the old stuff.
