It does appear that "View Selection Source" is broken in 2.40. "View >
Page Source" still works.
Yeah view page source works, but not its selection source. I checked in
Firefox v45.0.1, and it didn't have this problem. :(

Where are you getting this "selection source" stuff from??
Select a block of text on a web page, right-click and the last option is
"View Selection Source." It shows you the source code for just that
block of text, not the whole page.
