It does appear that "View Selection Source" is broken in 2.40.
"View >
Page Source" still works.
Yeah view page source works, but not its selection source. I checked
in Firefox v45.0.1, and it didn't have this problem. :(

First I've seen of it. It was not an issue with 2.39 so there is no
reason to think it would take 10 years.
Bug #1203395 already has a fix, scheduled for release with Gecko 44.
Bug #1259928 has been closed because it is a duplicate of bug #1203395.

I was thinking that it would take a long time, because someone says that

not been updated since 10 Apr 2014. Thus, it is hard to tell which
Gecko will be in what SeaMonkey.
Gecko version = FF version = SM version bits (+ 1)
Gecko 44 = FF 44 = SM 2 + 41 (+ 1)
So Gecko 44 will be in SM 2.41 SM 2.40 was released about a couple of
weeks ago, so, on a six week release cycle, SM 2.41 should be out in a
month or so!
And, of course, as I hit the "Return", I thought "Didn't I see, on the
SeaMonkey Devs IRC meeting possibly, recently, that 2.41 might be
skipped and go straight to SM 2.42!!"!!
