I'll continue the top post :)

Thanks F-R. However I am trying the Win 64 bit since I have an experimental system and I think the "official" archive is only 32 bit Windows. At least, I can't find a win64 version.

Hence Adrian Kalla's latest from about a week ago
https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~akalla/unofficial/seamonkey/nightly/latest-comm-central-windows64/seamonkey-2.48a1.en-US.win64.installer.exe

But I'll give the latest win32 a go

File seamonkey-2.48a1.en-US.win32.installer.exe 33M 10-Aug-2016
08:34

If it fails, i'll go back until one works :( I had been on 2.40
Please see my response to Ed Mullen.

PS. I agree with your sentiments about unwanted crap.

I just tried it with the latest available Nightly and it works fine.

If you can't get it resolved please open a bug report.

Do you have any userchrome code in the profile which uses the progress

Any tab extensions?

Does it occur with a fresh profile?

Works fine here using a locally compiled Seamonkey but I cleaned out the
Anniversary Update to at least make it usable and use it only for testing in a
VM.
This is such a sh*tty release and getting rid of forced adds web search and ads
eh
suggestions took a lot.

I am experimenting with the latest Seamonkey releases, but don't know
the best words to use for a bugzilla search. I presume this has been
reported.

The images for the browser pages on the task bar never settle - they
always show the "spinning" circle. Mailer (newsgroups) is OK.
Firefox 48 is OK.

This happens with both 2.47a1 32 bit and 2.48a1 64 bit, win 10
Anniversary release (Windows 10 Home 1607 Release).

User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:51.0)
Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 SeaMonkey/2.48a1
Build identifier: 20160807152714

Can anyone provide me with either the appropriate key words or a even a
bug number? I'm ahppy to try to raise a bug.
