Possibly. My ubuntuzilla 2.40 is installed in opt - my 2.46 is in
~/home. But I do not use a symlink, instead I use the application menu
options to point to which one I wish to use:

SeaMonkey (mozilla)
Command: /home/<user>/seamonkey/seamonkey/seamonkey

SeaMonkey (ubuntuzilla 2.40)
seamonkey %u
(can also use /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey)
