How is your wife starting SeaMonkey?  via a shortcut on the desktop
or directly from the Program Files folder?

I don't know if you've tried this; but, go directly into the
folder where SeaMonkey was installed and run the exe directly.

Tried it both ways--no difference. Odd thing, though--She has been able
to start SM twice, both time after the computer sat, turned on but
unused, for 8-10 hours! However, thank you for being interested in our
mystery.

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, we did the disc check and turned off the A-V; neither one made any difference.

Can't start in safe mode unless we can at least get SM to open.

Oh, Well . . . She has defaulted to getting her e-mail through Windows 10 Mail, which has loads of problems but at least downloads her mail.
