I don't know if this News group is where to get help with a problems I
have.
I bought a used laptop with WiFi using Windows Vista.
I have a wireless Internet Dish outside which connects to my computer
via a cable.
I bought and set up a NetGear 600 Router in my house - connected to the
ISP Cable.
It is working. This Desktop is connected to the Router right now via a
cable.
When I try to set up a WiFi connection on the Laptop, VISTA says I am
connected with a strong signal.
However, when I start up SeaMonkey, it won't connect to the Internet.
I had set up and used SM - with the cable connected directly to the
Laptop - and got
onto the Internet. Now via the WiFi, I cannot connect.
Am I doing something wrong here ? How do I get the WiFi signal the
Laptop is getting
to interface with SeaMonkey and then the ISP ?
I have NEVER used WiFi and don't know squat about it. Especially the
Jargon. Dinosaur.

My router (NetGear 600) setup "Wizard" asks if I need a password to
get on my ISP.
I chose "No" - however my E-Mail does need a password.
What is this Internet IP Address thing ? How would I get it ?
NetGear's wizard has - "use Static Address (number given) or Dynamic.
Chose dynamic. ???
Anyway...I went back to the NetGear wizard and had it set up what is
needed and tested it.
It says I have an internet connection....obviously - I am using it now
on my Desktop WIRED to
the router.
Now to go back and try the Hp G60 Laptop's WiFi....

Wifi, ISP and mail account are 3 different things.
My pc is connected to my wifi network with a strong password.
This wifi-material is a modem-routeur which is connected thru the
telephone line to my ISP with and ID and a Password.
When all is ok, I can access my mailbox with an ID and a Password.
The 3 passwords are differents.
If your pc is connected strongly with the modeme thru wifi, it could be
without password (This depends of your wifi options in your modem-router)
If that is ok, and You cannot use SM to access Google, par exemple, this
is because your modem "is not connected to the internet" the causes can
be that you have not specified the ID/PW for the connection to your ISP.
Another possibility could be that the internet-access at your isp is
down at your isp server.
So the best way of solving your problem should be a phone call to your isp.
