I don't know if this News group is where to get help with a problems I
have.
I bought a used laptop with WiFi using Windows Vista.
I have a wireless Internet Dish outside which connects to my computer
via a cable.
I bought and set up a NetGear 600 Router in my house - connected to the
ISP Cable.
It is working. This Desktop is connected to the Router right now via a
cable.
When I try to set up a WiFi connection on the Laptop, VISTA says I am
connected with a strong signal.

However, when I start up SeaMonkey, it won't connect to the Internet.
I had set up and used SM - with the cable connected directly to the
Laptop - and got
onto the Internet. Now via the WiFi, I cannot connect.

Am I doing something wrong here ? How do I get the WiFi signal the
Laptop is getting
to interface with SeaMonkey and then the ISP ?

I have NEVER used WiFi and don't know squat about it. Especially the
Jargon. Dinosaur.

New Development -
I have two Desktops (mine & Wife's in different parts of house - 50'
away).
Bought a Roswell N300 Wireless USB Adapter ($28) for my wife's Desktop.
Installed it and on SeaMonkey startup - connected immediately on the
Router WiFi !
Did NOT have to enter ANY information at all - just connected right
away !
Set up Google as home page and then Fox News on the bookmarks Toolbar.
i.e. - the Router is working - Roswell WiFi connected to the Router -
no worries !
Note - it DID NOT ask me for a password ! Should have ! ? ? ? ? ? ?
!!!
Does this mean any old person within range can use it ?

NOW - can I get ANY information from the Roswell Adapter to put into
my *$%@ Laptop's
Atheros AR5007 802.1 1b/g wireless adapter ? -- BTW - which SHOULD
also be working !

If your wireless network is not protected by a password any connection
outside your building can do nasty things ... and you can be prosecuted.

I did put a Password into the Router Setup.
When I set up my wife's computer's Roswell WiFi Adapter, I had to put THAT
password into the adapters Program. I guess it automatically gives the password
when it connects to the Router......
I changed the Password in the utility to some nonsense and then it would not connect to the internet. So I guess it is working via the password.

I STILL cannot get the &#%@$ Laptop to connect. I copied down everything I could
find from the Wife's Computer Network info and put those numbers into my
Laptop's Network stuff - NO GO !
Stumped.....it connects to the Network but won't connect to the Internet !
Is this why folks never liked Windows VISTA !?
