It is from the bug I mentioned: Bug 1374708. Adrians build is now a few months
months old and not affected. There were quite a few updates in the tree for
the release.

Which theme do you have problems with? Modern was never supported or
adapted on/for OSX I think and any custom theme might just need an update.

I solved the problem. There is a new stylesheet in the default theme called
"messageQuotes.css" that was not in any of my added themes. I added it, and
now the compose window works with all of them.
In fact, I am using it right now.
