Hi all,

is it possible not to download the newsgroups messages when I only want to synchronize my email accounts? It's *really* annoying that when I select the off-line mode to download my emails SM first starts to download hundreds of thousand NGs messages! And if I click on the "cancel" button it is stuck in a loop asking for the news server password!

So, if I only want to download the emails (from IMAP accounts), how can I do it?

I'd also like to know why SM downloads all the messages over and over again from the news server, instead of comparing and dowbloading only the new ones!

TIA :-)

G.

PS: does SM 2.53.3 work with macOS Catalina?

In my Win 7 SM 2.49.5, if I select File -> Off line -> Download/Sync Now, a screen pops up where I can select to Download 'Mail messages' and/or 'Newsgroup messages'. I'm guessing if I don't want to download 'Newsgroup messages', I'd deselect it!

That would solve my issue!
Can you upload a screenshot somehere?

Thank you!

Why a screenshot?? Can't you just click File -> Off line -> Download/Sync Now to see for yourself??

Hi, just to compare, given we are using different OS and SM versions...
OK, the issue is SM behaves differently if you select the menu as you suggested (that gives the option to download only email or NGs or both) VS what I usually do just by clicking the "connection icon" in the Mail window. In this case there are no options at all and if you click on "cancel" when asked for the news server credentials SM gets stuck in a loop! I consider this a bug, SM should just stop asking for username/password in that case and go on downloading only Mail.
Anyway, thank you for the workaround :-)

When you mention 'just by clicking the "connection icon" in the Mail Window' ..... where is this "connection icon"??
