The import insists that the Record Type field be filled in with
something on every record. You probably get offered only the four
default choices because the list you changed lives in the names file,
and during import you would be looking at one of the import files.

No, you seem to have covered the ground by correcting the legacy data
when you changed the list. The address calculations that depend on
record type differ between "Ind" and "anything else" so you can put
anything you like in the field and it will be ok.
