Thanks John.  I've figured it out and am now successfully backing up ebase as well as using your suggestion to date the backups and keep several on one Zip disk.

I have a relatively simple way of backing up. I keep several successive back-ups on a single zip disk. ebase is in a folder by itself. (Running on an iMac.) I simply drag (copy) the entire ebase folder to the zip disk and then add the current date to the folder that shows up there. I also delete the oldest copy. As of now, I keep the last six backups but six is an arbitrary number.

Thanks for all the help from various folks.  This is a slow process. I have now successfully entered 1400+ names to our database.  Before I begin to deal with payments and membership expire dates I need some help with the backup.

I am using a Zip drive for backup (newly purchased and not very familiar with).  I have been able to save a copy of ebase using the SAVE AS command to the zip drive.  Now I am trying to open the zipped backup to make sure I have saved the data.  Reopening it is giving me a problem.
