Are
you on a Mac or PC?
That
information is critical to giving informed advise, especially on problems like
this that sound like they are some Operating System problem.
First
quess, your operating system is having problems. Did you try rebooting? Did you
install anything new recently?
If Ok
after a reboot, don't worry about the problem, both Windows and Mac OS are prone
to overwriting their core code and causing random problems. If you installed
something new, you may have broken the OS in some way. These usually don't go
away on a reboot, and a reinstall may be needed, or at least an uninstalll of
the new program.
