I first tried a drag&drop file type/creator utility called
type-resolver. Then on Dave's suggestion, I made sure bu using an old
da, deskzap, to look at the type and creator. They are indeed being
set correctly. However things still do not work. Since I am only
running the run-time of filemaker, I can't open filemaker first. But
when I get the "file doesn't belong to this solution message, I am
brought to a dialog box to open a new file - I navigate to the place
where my ebase files are, and they show up on the list, so
whatever-is-running sees that they might be the correct type, but when
I select ebase.103, I still get the "not part of this solution"
message. So although, I appreciate Dave's remarks and questions, I ask
again - has anyone actually done this? If so, could you explain
exactly how? Thanks!
oh - I've tried by starting both the "ebase" file and the "ebase.103"
file - same result in either case. On the mac, all I see other than
the database file (the *.103) files is a (if I remember right) 4mb
file named ebase - I assume that holds the runtime filemaker - yes?
details of what I originally asked...
