Ahhh...you don't have FilemakerPro, but are using the runtime version of ebase?
Two versions of the ebase runtime engine are distributed: one for the
Mac and on for the PC. The template files work on both platforms, but
you need a runtime version specifically for the platform you are
using.
The best way to handle this would be to download a mac version of
.103 (from http://www.ebase.org/download.lasso using your original
download username/password combo), then install it in a new folder.
Delete all of the .103 files in the group you just downloaded and
installed. You should be left with the Macintosh runtime version of
ebase. Finally, move your existing .103 data files to the same folder
as the "new" runtime engine. This should allow you to run the .103
files which hold your data.
