Hi Dave and Walt,

Thank you both for your comments. I was wondering if you could give me a
little more guidance before I start the upgrade procedure once again. That
way I think I might have a better chance of success.

Here is what I did last time. Some of the documentation was not complete
for a Windows version so I will add those pieces in also. That could be
where I got off track.

So here we go.

PREP:
----------
1) I loaded ebase 103 runtime into directory C:\Program Files\ebase103

2) Loaded FileMaker Pro 5.0

3) Back-up 102 runtime files

EXPORT STEPS
------------
1) I opened ebase 102 runtime

2) At the home page (names_.102) I did a FIND ALL

3) I selected FILE -> IMPORT/EXPORT (not in documentation) -> EXPORT
RECORDS. A dialot box appeared named EXPORT RECORDS TO FILE. I selected
MERGE(.MER) file type and named the file NAME_102.MER in directory
C:\Program Files\ebase103 and pressed the SAVE bottom.

***Then screen not in doc. appeared******

A dialog box called SPECIFY FIELD ORDER FOR EXPORT. One the left was a
list of all the "Current File("names_.102)" fields. On the right was a
subset of the fields. I elected to do a MOVE ALL of the field from the
left to the right. I then selected WINDOWS(ANSI)as the character set
(default was Macintosh) and also DON'T FORMAT OUTPUT (default). Then I
clicked on EXPORT.

***End of undocumented part****

I did basically the same process of all the other files listed in the
manual with the exception of:

ACTIONS - CONTACT - DOCUMNT - HELP - INVOICE - NOTES - ZIP - ZIPCODE

because of all these files were empty.

IMPORT STEPS
------------
The first thing I did was to open ebase_.103 from FileMaker Pro 5.0 using
he MASTER password. Then I...

1) At the HOME (name_.103) I did a FIND ALL.

2) Then I did a DELETE ALL RECORDS (document as DELETE FOUND RECORDS)

3) Then I selected FILE -> IMPORT RECORDS. A dialog box appeared named
OPEN FILE and I selected name_102.mer and then OPEN.

4) A dialog box appeared called IMPORT FIELD MAPPING. I choose "view by"
MATCHING NAMES", Charater Set: WINDOWS(ANSI) and ADD NEW RECORDS and then
clicked IMPORT.

***Undocumented dialog box***

Then a dialog box pops up called IMPORT OPTIONS. For the names_102.mer
file the PERFORM AUTO-ENTER OPTIONS WHILE IMPORTING is checked. (with
other imports it veries. I went with what ever it came up as). Then I
clicked OK.

***End of undocumented part***

5) When this completed I then went to FILE -> DEFINE FIELDS. A dialog box
appeared and I selected RECORD NUMBER, then click on options and set the
next value to 4100 (4099 was the last value). I then click OK and then
DONE.

Then I imported the remaining file in the same way only not including the
define fields step.

That was the whole process. Everything looked great until we tried to
change a Pledge amount. If you have any hints where I could of screwed up
I would really appreciate it.

Finally, if I do get a working v103 and I want to move a copy to someone
else's stand alone computer for them to reference the data, what files do
I move? (all the files created by the run-time version or just the files
ending in .103)

Thanks!
