I am trying to print out a set of mailing labels and have some questions:
1. Does ebase always revert to all capital letters when outputting this
file? Can I change this back to the regular upper and lower case as entered
in the database? Alternatively, can I reduce the font size?

Yes it prints in upper case because that is what USPS wants/prefers. If you
have FMP you can go into layout mode and change it very easily - just change
the font screen and while you are at it cut down the point size to get more
on a line.

2. The format does not quite fit my Avery 8160 sheet - whose labels should I
be buying?

Presumably you mean that it does not line up with the labels. This is an
almost universally reported problem. The answer is that you have to change
the header size to get the labels to line up right. Look at the archives for
hundreds of entries on this problem. The manufacturer of the labels is
irrelevant. All the clones usually give the Avery number of their label and
they are identical in size and layout if the numbers match. The actual
layout is for Avery 5160 but there are a whole bunch of Avery numbers that
are really the same and differ in color, transparent, inkjet vs laser, etc.
I think 8160 is one of these.

3. Some addresses are too long to fit on one line, e.g. 1111 North Anywhere
St., Apt. 111B. How can I enter a three line address?

Easiest solution is smaller font. There are two address lines and I have
never seen one that I couldn't get into two lines, sometimes with
abbreviations. In fact USPS really only wants one address line and considers
the other line supplemental and mostly ignored especially by their automatic
sorters. As far as they are concerned the address line is really the one
above the City, state, zip. The letter carrier may look at the other line if
necessary, but it is really best to stick with one line. There is CASS
software that will enforce what USPS wants to see and mailing to CASS
certified addresses gets a price break.

4. Will all this change with the new version?

Not likely very much. What is in the current betas is too limited to tell
for sure.
