I've lost track of what you have done. Here's what should have 
happened as you download and attempt to open the files.

- download ebase from the website. At this point you have one 5Mb 
file, a stuffit archive
- unstuff the archive using Stuffit Expander or something like that. 
Now you have a folder with the 29 or so files that make up the ebase 
file set plus some folders with documentation and other items.
- Launch FileMaker as you usually do. If you get the optional dialog 
with options to create a new file or open an existing one, click 
"open existing file"
- You get the FileOpen dialog box. Navigate to the ebase folder you 
just unstuffed, with all the ebase files in it.
- select file type "all files"
- select ebase.103 and click Open.
- ebase will start, and you'll get the password dialog. Enter master, 
the default high-level password, and you're in.

Where does your procedure diverge from this?
