Most land trusts should be tracking their parcels with a Geographic
Information System (GIS), such as ArcView. They have full database
capabilities as well as all the specialized stuff to track locations and
show maps. The latest version of ArcView uses MS VBA as its scripting
language so it should be possible to write an application (they call them
extensions) that does whatever tracking you need to do. I don't know if this
has already been done.
