We have both ArcView and ebase, but are not really proficient in either yet. Its interesting to read that ArcView could be used to track parcel owner contacts, but it sounds beyond the ability of small groups at this time. We were lucky enough to get a grant to acquire ArcView, with training, but we don't have any real computer whizzes here. ArcView helps us prioritize parcels, and track natural features, among other things. I would like to use ebase to maintain records of our efforts with different potential land donors, and it wouldn't even be necessary to link it with the actual location of the parcel, though it would be cool to be able to. With ebase, the first land donor tracking I tried to do is put our actual land donors in a separate donor category, which I called "Partners in Preservation", but I couldn't figure out how to separate them out from "honorary" or other donor levels, because some have donated quite a bit of cash, and others have donated no cash, just land. We keep our "outside" mailing list (other organizations, non-members) in Word formatted for labels, because they are different than "honorary members", for the same reason. "Honorary members" have done something that warrants a free membership.
