Good question. It is a Feature not a Bug! As we get the website finished there will be online documentation about the design decisions and process which went into creating ebase2. For now here is a quick 'why' to answer your question.
For the general use login (login through ebase.200) the bulk of the filemaker pull down menus are grayed out to prevent accidental use of filemaker 'features' such as "Delete All". The devLogin.200 the Developer Login file unlocks some filemaker features for developer access. Ebase 2 uses fairly extensive transfer of data behind the scenes and makes use of a non-filemaker record identification process which offers some real advantages but makes the filemaker 'Duplicate record' command a data integrity damaging command. As a result, use of some of the standard filemaker "shot cuts" could produce erratic or erroneous results and were 'grayed out'. hope that made sense and helped you understand some of the whys of ebase2 Clif -------------------------------------------- Clif Graves, Programmer TechRocks 74 Narrows Pond Road Winthrop ME 04364 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] eFax: 425.790.2058 Web: http://www.techrocks.org -------------------------------------------- ebase Open Source Relationship Management Software for Non Profits http://www.ebase.org -------------------------------------------- > Thank you for your helpful step by step instructions.
