It never was Free-DOS. Free-DOS is an entirely different project and is still
free.

The history of DR-DOS (I'm going in chronological order, but won't even try
to fill in the dates);

Owner               Name               Versions
----------------    ------------       -------------
Digital Research    DR DOS             3.41, 5, 6
 (BTW, was there a DR DOS 4? I don't remember one)

Novell              Novell DOS         7

Caldera             Caldera OpenDOS    7.01, 7.02
                    Caldera DR-DOS     7.02, 7.03
(Yes, 7.02 was first released as OpenDOS, then
 as DR-DOS).

One thing I noticed about 7.02; as OpenDOS, the non-commercial "evaluation"
did not have a time limit. When they changed the name to DR-DOS, they
introduced the proviso "limited to a reasonable time" for the non-commercial
evaluation.
