As I said in another post, years ago my first HD, a 251-1 went
bye-bye on me with no warning at all, it just died. I got all
the apps back from the BBS's no problem. But I lost data I
could never get back, my diary, 3 years worth of checking account
data, etc. Ever since then I have made good backups. Luckily
enough since I have been making backups I've never had another
emergency. But the times I had to fdisk and format, like when I
took Win95 off my machine to go back to DOS, it was really nice
to have everything right there ready to go.
