Not necisary, and I never said he should go into the CMOS since I don't
think that his problem is with this. He had one HD and it was 8G and he saw
2G of it. Doesn't that point to the fact that it either isn't partioned or
ins't formatted?

And the diffrence to your idea of going directly to service would be that
he would:
1. waste his money
2. don't learn anything but get even more stuck in the use of trained personal

Of course he would be taking a risk, but that risk wouldn't be that big
with some help IMO.

Of course he should back everything up (I told him that to). Never thought
of having a complete Win 98 install, good point.
