That's odd. I thought that, at their web site, it says that you need a 286
or larger. Are you talking about an older version?

Anyway, a few months ago, I wrote to the NewDeal folks with some questions
about their GUI, and with their permission, I'll repeat my questions with
their responses, as follows...

NewDeal is an Operating System (it controls the computer, manages
the processes, and provides services to applications), but NewDeal
is not a DOS (Disk Operating System). NewDeal relies on DOS for
file system services (the management of writing and reading files
on disks and hard drives).

I use PC DOS 7 myself on two of my computers. It's a great
choice for use with NewDeal. Assuming you don't have some really
unusual or obscure settings, the only thing you might need to
change about your PC DOS 7 settings would be to make sure you
have a minimum of files=30 and buffers=30 in your config.sys
file and that you have plenty of conventional memory available
(at least 540k and the closer to 600k the better).
I use PC DOS 7's ramboost and run NewDeal on the machines.

No problem at all.

About 12 mb, plus documents.

Absolutely yes.

I'm not sure I understand the question. You can run NewDeal from
the DOS prompt. You can exit NewDeal and run other DOS programs from
the DOS prompt. Or you can also use NewDeal like a fancy menu program
to run your other DOS programs. When you double click the icon for
a DOS program in NewDeal's file manager, NewDeal will shut itself
down except for a small hook in memory (about 1.7K) while the other
DOS app runs, and then NewDeal will start up again when you exit the
other DOS app. NewDeal does not attempt to multitask DOS apps.

Thanks.
