All of the cards and components, except for the gray-scale VGA monitor
appear to be of original vintage. When found, the machine contained
no video card. I installed an old VGA card, and it worked.

There appears to be no on-board ROM providing a setup program with
which one could input the BIOS setup options for CMOS. If there is
no boot disk in the A drive, pressing F-1 will call the BASIC ROM,
not a setup ROM. For this reason I believe I need a setup disk.
Someone from this list sent me a message via private email to let me
know where I might be able to download a setup disk. I will check out
the info as soon as possible.

The above is not an exact *quote* of a message. What I actually
saw on screen is "______ K, OK". I forgot the exact number of
"K", but it was more than 1100 and less than 1200.

It was very helpful for you to have mentioned this. I am already
aware of such things as "extended" and "expanded" memory, but would
need to condult a book to brush up on my knowledge of this stuff in
order to input all the correct details, and to figure out what type
of memory is which. Sometimes I forget and become confused on the
matter. I hope none of the chips in my brain are having glitches!

I think I'll have to remove the hard drive in order to detemine
the make/model. I have a book listing the number of
cylinders/tracks/sectors for almost all old hard drives.

   Thanks for your response.
