Tandy was the manufacturer of a line of Computers that began in the mid to late 70's
and were sold almost exclusively
through Radio Shack stores. At first they were called TRS-80's with a later (1985?)
change to "Tandy" computers. Tandy
made a line of MSDOS compatible machines starting with the Tandy 2000 (again in 1985?)
... a machine that used the 186
Intel processor (YES - there is such a thing as a 186). Their "biggest hit" was the
Tandy 1000... another
semi-compatible line of DOS machines. I believe you can find Tandy machines that went
up all the way to the 486 era, but
then Radio Shack started selling Compaqs and such. I don't think Tandy manufactures
machines with their own label on
them anymore... I know Tandy owns some huge retail stores in the States.
Another Tandy machine which had a large hobbyist following was the TRS-80 / Tandy
Color Computer. I've constructed a
page in its honour (please note however that this machine was not an MSDOS compatible
computer):

I believe www.trs-80.com exists as well if you want more information about their
earlier models.
