Even though some of the Tandy IBM compatible computers had some
incompatibilities regarding hardware (like this 1000 HX and the EX)
they seem to be long-lasting machines.
I've been waiting for this thing to die on me but after some 12 years
it won't.
One of the selling points, I think, was the Tandy Graphics (based on
PCjr) providing up to 16 colors at 320x200 or 4 colors at 640x200
in graphics mode. Compare that to the CGA at the time which could only
display 4 colors max graphically. The later 1000s (TL/SL?) upped it to
640x200x16colors.
There once was a ton of games out there that supported Tandy Graphics
so the desire to want to move up to EGA wasn't really there.
Most if not all of the Sierra Online games supported TGA back then.
And as mentioned already the 3-voice sound was pretty neat. You got some
cool little music with some games.
Tandy is no longer in the computer-making business though they may
sell some (IBM Aptiva or Compaq).
Say, wasn't Tandy making some sort of laptop/notebook not long ago,
what happened with that?
