Randy, thanks for the input. I am sure Perl 5 for DOS can do what I
want, but the question is - can I? ;) Sure, I could probably learn to
fly too, but since there are a few others around that already can, I
settle for the occasional ride - and I really don't mind the
passenger seat.
Seriously though, I do appreciate the power of Perl (and
it's philosophy) - as I almost daily benefit from it - but only
indirectly though. You see I use some of the web2mail servers on the
net, and most of them, if not all(?), are Perl scripts. I even
downloaded the script for the Agora server (early release) - just out
of curiosity - and to my surprise the archive holding the code was
only about 17 KB!! (don't know if this URL is still valid, this was
more than two years ago: <ftp://www0.cern.ch/pub/Agora/Agora.tar.gz>
This is not to say I understood much of the script/code (but I
can read comments :).

Just curious: I guess I could run Perl for DOS without having to
learn how to write the scripts my self (at least initially), if I
found some ready made scripts for it that will do just what I want.
Do you know any sites/directories dedicated for this so it would be
easy to locate and get an overview of any ready made scripts
available for the DOS version? Or do you think the time needed
to find just the right script will equal the time it takes to learn
some Perl basics in the first place? <g>
All the best,
Bjorn
