A 586 is basically a 100+ mhz 486, or about the speed of the first 66 or 75
mhz Pentiums.
You can't just stick a Pentium in a 486 board, you need to have the correct
"socket" for the processor you are installing.
A 300mhz pentium won't work in any 486 board, because you would need at
least a "Socket 7" which is way newer than the 486.
