About a year ago, my computer "blew up". It was a P133, and what
happened was that somehow a power surge went trough the board, and
litraly blown up one of the chips. As far as the naked eye can see,
that chip was the only damaged part.. I cant tell until i'll run
trough it with the appropriate equipment.
I'm now playing with the idea of replacing that damanged chip, by
this attempting to rescue the board.
Problem is, that chip got many, many tiny pins, that are attached
to the board. The big question is, should I even try?
The cover of the chip is only partialy present, but this is the info
that I managed to read (from what was left, anyway.):
intel(R)
PC___
SB82___
L6262___
SU093
INTEL(M)(C) '95
In places where I drew an underline ("_"), there is a missing cover.
(R), (M) and (C) are the characters,R,M and C in a circle.
(as in the 'Copyright' logo and 'Original' logos.)
There is another chip on the board that looks almost the same.
Its details:
intel(R)
PCIset
SB82437VX
L6244969
SU085
INTEL(M)(C)'95
The board has the logo "PCI for AT BUS" on the front, and the logo
"Elpina" on the back. There is also the current info written on it:
TOPSEARCH
2496-2765
The 2496 is black numbers on white(green, actually) background,
and the 2765 is white(green) numbers on black background, in a
white(green) square border.
Now 3 questions remain:
1)Anyone can identify the "blasted" chip?
2)Is there anywhere where I can get that chip again?
3)Should I even try?..
