Hi Or,
  Hmm, I don't quite buy that power surge theory. <g> What
is clear is that the chip overheated. I suspect that there
is some other reason for that, and putting in another chip
would blow that one two. Remember that you need a way to
make sure that everything else is OK *before* you put
another chip up for sacrifice. <g>
  I say trash the board.
