Kinda depends on what country, no? These are Dells, NEC, and a variety of
others. Many have had the cpus and ram stripped as well as drives. Pity.
Turns out that the machines were not ruined otherwise, those that have
their parts are simply blank hard drives, ready for format /s.
I now have a 48633SL B&W LCD with 4 MB ram and a 120 MB hard drive with
power supply and good battery, though the cmos battery is goners. Can't
figure where the damn thing is. It's an NEC Versa. I'll find that
battery, meanwhile I have to go into CMOS and reset the date and time every
time I boot. I like it. It's a laptop, and it's mine.
I also got 3 NICs, a nullmodem cable (I think), some spare ram simms (4MB)
and a desktop 48633dx from Dell, cdrom, 250 MB hd.
Works for me! I paid 45 bucks, plus it cost about 50 in gas. Not bad.
I suggested that she take the ordinary things she has and pull them apart
and sort out the parts for sale as lots. SIMMs, cables, drives, etc. Plus
juice up any 486s that are decent, with pci slots and such. Some are old
enough to have VESA buses. Said I'd come back and do the stripping for her
in the spring if she still has the stuff.
