>Turning the power on resulted in a blank screen.
Response: As a blind person, a blank or non-blank screen doesn't do much
for me. An even earlier test that I do is to place a cheap portable AM
radio near the CPU. If there is activity on the board, tuning the radio
dial will produce strong hash (noise) signals. Power down the computer to
be sure that the hash is coming from it and not some other source. Listen
to the hash for changes. Events such as end of memory check, BIOS check,
speaker beep signal will cause changes. If these tests are positive, it's
time for the monitor and to borrow a pair of eyes. I always return them
when finished.
