Hi;
I just purchased a GE Caller-ID box. The unit plugs into the phone
line, and the the phone or answering machine plugs into the unit. I can
now see the number of the person who is calling.
The unit also displays the current date and time. Now, I've looked
through the instructions that came with the Caller-ID box, but nowhere
does it say how to set the date and time.
As a test, I unplugged the phone line from the unit, and it didn't
know the date or time. Plugged it back in, and it displayed the date and
time.
I'm wondering, does the Caller-ID service that I subscribe to through
my telephone company (Bell Canada) provide the date and time through the
telephone line? If so, would it not also be possible to somehow access
this information through my modem and PC?
