Remember, whether you are talking about that nonexistent 9-9-99 problem, or
the Y2K issue, most of what most people have read on the subject was written
by people who know very little more about computers other than the fact that
they exist and that they can seem to do many magical things.  Magic
frightens people who are not in the know about magic.  There was no way that
the 9999 issue could have effected any date-sensitive systems at all, since
it had nothing to do with dates.  You won't hear of any computer problem
anywhere in the world happening on 09-09-99 or 99-09-09 that had anything to
do with any sequences or repetitions of the number 9.

As for the new millenium, everything will be working just fine when the new
millenium rings in, because that will be a switch from the year 2000 to the
year 2001, not a change from the year 1999 to the year 2000 as most people
erroneously believe.
