Yes, at some point the hardware must be abandoned to the cosmos, whether it
stands or falls. Still, one wants to do all one can to ensure that it will
stand, not fall, before letting go. I think the idea I've liked most so
far has been to develop a high profile name in the community then plaster
that name indelibly all over the equipment. I've certainly intended that
the equipment I have bought with my own money and put together with my own
time should remain nominally mine, that it would go out on a cheap lease
rather than just be given away. When the person's using it reach a point
that they wish to spend money on their own equipment, they would return
mine to me so I could place it elsewhere. Meantime I could continue to
provide support to them on their new systems. It's that recognizable name
I cannot envision at this time. No matter, it's not happening that
fast. I've got too much learning and research still to do.
