I have always wondered how to save the old BIOS settings to a floppy disk
without a utility of some sort. Is there a file on the hard drive I'm
supposed to copy? Last time I flashed my BIOS, the flasher utility from the
motherboard manufacturer backed up the old BIOS for me.

Another recommendation is to set all BIOS options to their default
values (after recording the current settings, of course). Also be
sure to save the old BIOS to a floppy (your bootable one?). That way
if you flash the BIOS and there is a problem or you simply wish to
return to your original BIOS you can do so.
