BOTH! Get some nice bootmanager that allows more than one primary partition. I would
not dream of leaving one of them alone. And considar an extended partition for
OS/2, Linux or something else that is not limited to start from a primary partition on
the first disk.

OS/2 can load a specific version of DOS from a floppy, or an image on of a floppy on
the hard disk, no end of the fun!
