Don't know a LOT about amigas, but a friend of mine still has his,
functioning, although he's abandoned it in favor of the 486/win3.1 machine
he's now got. Couple other friends had them, and come to think of it, my
buddy Bill still writes on his. Gots a dot matrix printer and word
processing program and he does his stuff.
Green or orange screens, command line, but with a menu across the top and
little bar on the bottom with some command suggestions. Fire the thing up
and feed it a system disk if you can identify one, see what it can do! You
can put a modem and terminal emulator on them too for remote sessions with
dialup networks. They also had games of various sorts available. Also,
before Mac commanded it, they were one of the top choices for graphics and
video work, the local video coop used amigas for all their work, so I
suppose they are capable of quite a bit, depending on which one/kind you
use. I also heard that battlestar galactica movie's animations were
created with amigas.
