well tis just not my computer day *sigh*
actually, i've been having this problem for a couple of days, but am only
now getting to the hair pulling stage.
i use two main means to access the net. nettamer, which actually counts as
two because i have two different versions on my computer, and that
wonderful b386 kit by john lewis. which also runs my icq.
both programs use the exact log in information for my ppp/ip service,
mindspring. same userid and same password. even the same phone numbers,
and same modems start up string.
however, while nettamer is having no trouble negotiating ppp link, for
some reason linx is having a fit. first after my pasword is sent, i get
gibberish in terms of speech, and am told i get a message on the screen
suggesting a script problem "script change," i am told. hard to say as it
happens very fast.
on the second attempt, and if i exit the program and start all over, i get
"ppp link is gone, driver not installed," followed by the termination
process with the added, " no packet driver found at that address."
any ideas? it was working just fine as late as maybe tuesday. and i have
changed nothing at all. i think it may be a provider thing, but why does
nettamer work without problems? just to test i got a completely new copy of
john's kit and installed it. same problem.
opinions?
