I am unreasonably timid about such things, ruining a controller card
because I don't know what I'm doing and wind up melting a part of the
circuit board just wouldn't make my day.  I'm not really experienced with a
soldering tool and this isn't my machine to destroy.  Not sure I'd know a
UART if it jumped up and bit me either.
I'm hoping if I just leave it till I get some answers on the I/O card
driver forum I may luck out on the code for the jumpers.  There's been a
few clues here and there, I've just been working outside the home too much
lately to apply them.  Life calls me elsewhere.
