I think the biggest challenge will be ensuring compatability with older
software that only knows of COM1-4, with fixed IO/IRQ options. There's
plenty of hardware to work around these limitations. As David mentioned,
Digiboard for one, and some of the Rocketport devices support densities of
32 modem/ports if I recall correctly. Most seem to be PCI though.
What would work will depend on what you want to do!
