I don't know about your markets, but there is no shortage of "old" style
mouse options locally (SW US). I've got a couple of 9 pin (serial) 2 and 3
button versions that were impulse buys when I spotted them for under $2US
apiece.
I'm not sure what you mean by "normal" DIN though. That sounds like the PS/2
port. That's equally common, and various adapters let you mix and match
(though serial-to-PS/2 doesn't always work well).
There are some nice Logitech 2 button version with no scroller to be had as
well. They're a bit costlier (about $20US) but hardly outrageous. And I
still see the PS/2 2 button mice with no scroller from MS as well, in both
the small (home) and lumpy versions.
I wouldn't hoard up quite yet!
I'm still using a couple that are serveral years old. I can't think why
you'd routinely go through several each year, other than perhaps you're
slamming them around a bit? I do open mine up once a year to get the crud
that accumulates out. What stops working?
