Oh pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeee! My studies of computers and
software haven't kept me from the rest of my life. I have a
husband and a very spoiled dog to take care of, I spend lots of
time outdoors gardening etc when the weather is good. I do lots
of sewing and needlework and crafts. I even spin my own knitting
yarn by hand! I have enough time to volunteer at the animal
shelter 3 days a week. I manage to find time to write HTML for
people and get paid for it. My son is an even better example -
he is in charge of a very large computer and telephone network
and he manages to find plenty of time for lots other things in
his life.

The whole idea that it takes THAT long and is THAT difficult to
learn and understand computers, OS's, and software is bunk, an
illusion, a fallacy, a lie, and propaganda started a very long
time ago by Apple (and others) in their advertising campaign
against the PC.

}- You are in effect saying that because someone is stupid they
}- don't deserve to live and THAT is the most unkind thing of all.

I never said this... Since when is a computer required to live?
There have been several times in my life when for various reasons
I have been computerless, and I got along just fine.

Next you will no doubt tell me that these people must use a
computer, complete with Windows, to make a living. I'll save you
the trouble. Let's see...... My neighbors on the south side
neither have, nor want, nor are required to use a computer for
their work. She is a chef in a fine resturant, he drives a tow
truck, does hauling, and in the winter he also plows snow. They
make a fine living and are perfectly happy. My neighbor on the
north side works for an industrial cleaning contractor and her
job does not require the use of a computer. She makes $18.00 per
hour and is perfectly happy. Funny you should mention it, one of
my brothers is an auto mechanic and his job requires no use of a
computer - in fact just last weekend he rebuilt the carburetor
and did a tune up on my car - he did a great job, all without the
aid of a computer. His new wife does small wood-working and
sells her work at art and craft shows. She doesn't use a
computer in her work. And last year she made more money than my
husband who is a journeyman electrician. All these people work
and pay their taxes and contribute to society in their own way.
All do so without a computer.

And anyway, just how many braindead, computer illiterate,
former-pencil-pushers-now-keyboard-pushers do we need anyway?
It is they who should either learn what they need to know or find
another line of work - not the rest of us who should adjust to
them!

}- Stupidity isn't a choice, it's a fact and it's enough to live
}- with on it's own.

Ah, but that's where you are wrong, stupidity *IS* a choice,
as is laziness, especially where Windows is concerned. The
stupid person doesn't want to learn, doesn't want to know
anything else but how to point and drool. Lured by slick ad
campaigns and promises of how "easy" and "powerful" it is - ha!
And if we are to believe Micro$oft, no one forced these people to
be stupid and install Windows, they *chose* to! So yes,
stupidity is a choice.

An ignorant person is a different story, they want to learn and
can be taught. Unfortunately they are getting fewer and fewer
and farther between.
