I've never seen any problems with it - they seem equally fast to me.

But of course, all programs I've used are like this in Windows as well
(until you open a second window).

I think you are correct.

I've heard some nice things about DreamWeaver - especially that it doesn't
mess up your HTML (which most others do). Personally edit works fine for me
(but then my pages aren't overly impressive nor updated lately <g>).

Easy? I remember the first time I used WS-FTP - every field in the program
was messed up (and it stayed this way for several versions before it
finally was able to access the big FTP servers normally). It's also
responsible for (atleast early Win9x versions) of storing the local file
"file.htm" as "FILE.HTM" on the server.
My father who isn't all that interested in learning how to use a FTP
program got the hang of Cute-FTP directly (that reminds me I should perhaps
get him a new version soon).
