Got bad hostname there...

When?? Are you sure you're not talking about InstantName? ;-)
So far only these two that really free, and thus permanent
just like any free web hostings. I heard a friend of my
sister's boyfriend also got his free domain from Yahoo, but
his (used to be) site is nowhere to be found... Guess
only the registration service was free, the mandatory
Internic fees weren't covered.

BTW, I just found out that VA has upgraded their server to
Apache 1.3.x, MOD rewrite no longer work from .htaccess level
now... Bummer... Forget about customized 404... But then, thats
a free hosting service, and such URL rewriting might become a
real resource hog for the others <g>.

BTW (2), the spambot badspammer page is now once again ready
for preview. Take a look here:

   http://survpc.virtualave.net/cgi/spambot.pl

What do you think? ;-)

Since server-level rewriting is no longer possible, spambots
will be trapped at CGI level. The site should be (almost)
spambot-free when it's ready for member-contributed contents,
although I might have to add a more secure way to safely
publish your "live email address" without the usual risk
of get spammed...
