    It is nearly impossible to find a true hardware internal modem these
days.
I know you CAN find them in resale shops, but most of what I have seen
are still first-run WInModems.  And to get a straight answer from the
big makers is like finding chicken's teeth.  They dance around the
question, and it basically comes out it the end that they are functional
and configurable ONLY in a Windows environment.  I had a line on a
couple of ModemBlaster ISA 56k modems, but I could get no solid info
about using them outside of Windows.  -Dean
