Actually, not a lot of people know about that one. You can also drag a
file onto an icon in the quick launch task bar and drop it onto that icon
(careful, "I bar" means create a shortcut and happens if you miss the
icon). If you have notepad set as a shortcut in your quicklaunch section
of your taskbar (one click and it launches) and you drag a text, html, nfo,
etc. file and drop it onto the notepad icon, notepad will open it (unless
it's too big for notepad). Just as an example. Useful for opening files in
programs not associated with that file, like html in a text editor, perhaps.
Also can use the trick you discovered for opening files in open
applications, not just moving/copying them.
'Nother cute trick, you can "slam" the "my computer" icon (and many
others)against the side of your screen to turn it into a toolbar. said
toolbar can then be docked on any screen edge, put into the taskbar, or
left floating free in the middle of the desktop. you can then add
shortcuts into said newly created tool bar, remove existing ones, etc.
You can also create shortcuts to drives by dragging and dropping them into
toolbars, like the quicklaunch toolbar. (might need to do a right click
and drag then select "create shortcut")
In fact, you can grab and drag the taskbar around and also dock it on any edge!
Fun and games with your desktop for really silly people!
